Middle Tennessee is rife with majestic waterfalls of every shape and size, but non is as beloved as Cummins Falls. Racking up an impressive list of achievements, Cummins Falls State Park was awarded the distinction as “State Park of The Year” in 2021, in addition to being voted the 8th Best Swimming Hole in America by Travel+Leisure and Condé Nast Magazine in 2008. Consisting of two separate drops totaling 75 feet in height, this giant splasher is considered the eighth largest waterfall in Tennessee by volume. Visitors can choose to explore this 306-acre park by descending into the gorge along a rugged 1.5 mile trail to the bottom of the falls and its famous swimming hole. Alternatively, several easy to reach overlooks of Cummins Falls can be reached via its short and moderately easy trails.
