Shawnee National Forest Pomona Natural Bridge Poster
A sight to behold, the Pomona Natural Bridge is one of the many wonders hidden within the Shawnee National Forest. Spanning 90 feet across a rocky ravine, it is considered the second largest natural span in Illinois. A 0.35 mile loop takes visitors on a Civilian Conservation Corps built trail into a narrow canyon filled with several seasonal waterfalls, caves, and a walk across the arch. Tucked within the rural village of Pomona, this small Picnic Area was once at the heart of the development of the western half of the Shawnee National Forest during the 1930’s.
