Grandfather Mountain MacRae Peak Poster

 As one of the four separate peaks making up Grandfather Mountain, climbing to MacRaes Peak is easily one of the most strenuous hikes in the southeastern United States. From start to finish, this trail is not for the faint of heart. Climbing ladders up sheer cliffs, shuffling along narrow rock chutes, and pulling yourself up slippery slopes using steel wired ropes are all in a days work on this trail. Those who manage to reach the summit will enjoy looking down, through the clouds at a rolling mountainous landscape unlike any other on the eastern half of the United States.
